Curiosity

Although the name (Prunus Persica) suggests the peach is native to Persia, it actually originated in China, where it is symbolic of long life and was mentioned in writings as far back as 3000 years ago.
The Persians brought the peach from China and passed it onto the Romans.
The peaches, along with cherries, plums and apricots are stone fruit (drupes). They can be either fuzzy (peaches) or smoothie (nectarines) and white or yellow fleshed.
Though peaches and nectarines are considered different fruits, may actually belong to the same species, where the fuzzy skin is the dominant gene.
